New Theme

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

I decided to change the theme of the blog to differential, a WordPress theme by NodeThirtyThree. Originally, I was going to use StandardIssue, which was a regular theme by the same designer. So I spent 20-30 mins making the theme when I realized, that there was already one made (somehow I missed that), but it didn’t fit the style I wanted and instead of finishing mine, I just went with the one you see right now.

Kubrick was good, but did odd things to my posts (because I assume of the <code> tags I used). Anyways, just another step to a redesign.

New Logos!

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

OOOOOO Shiny and new! Yeah, I made them from some images from the Crystal Icons Project and the Thunderbird logo. I was quite surprised about how they turned out. So I think I did a great job for someone who normally can’t draw wonders of art.

For those who don’t know/can’t see the current logo, it’s this image below:

Old ThunderBrowse Logo

Personally, it’s not very good as it’s mainly a combo of images I found on the net and/or traced. It just looks, well, yeah.

So as I said above, I tried remaking some. Here are my wonderful combobulations:

  1. First Logo The image to the left is the first combo. It’s more like a mixture of images
  2. Logo Number 2 This is my personal favorite. Why? Because it’s like the bird on the box (only this time it came out, the one on the box didn’t). It’s a somewhat skinny bird, but it’s still cool. And I still like it. If it is used (which is likely because it shows better then the one below) there will be no white background (I could have sworn I uploaded one with a transparent background though)
  3. Logo #3 A friend suggested that I remove the rocket ship from the first logo as it kinda interferes, which I agree on. This logo is my second favorite. And it might be a tie between this and the one directly above.

Which will I use? I don’t know yet. But when I have finally decided you might see it soon in a recent build of ThunderBrowse. You can also vote on whatever one you like in the comments. Have a great Thanksgiving!

How to remove the "ugly horse" icon

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

Of course, the mozilla icon is the most ugliest thing in the world (It doesn’t look that much like a horse). And thus started the long: “I love ThunderBrowse but I hate the ugly horse, it’s like horse ****”. I had no idea what in the world you are referring to, well it turns out to be that it’s the favicons you hate. Specifically the mozilla one.

I like favicons myself, so I don’t want to remove them from ThunderBrowse (I thought they would be a fun [not so hidden] easter egg, but I guess you can’t please everyone), and I definitely don’t want to rush out a build that adds some setting. If you want to remove favicons, just follow the steps below:

A) Install Stylish: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/2108

B) Go to the stylish window (extension manager < Stylish < Options)

C) Click create a new style (name it whatever you want)

D) Add this code to the big text area:

@namespace url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul);

#favIconDeck,.tab-icon {display:none !important;}

E) Press save.

The favicons will be removed. And then you can throw a party and/or donate.

Version 0.3 of TB Properties Released

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

I just released version 0.3 of Thunderbird Properties, the optional addon for ThunderBrowse that allows you to see the properties of any link or image, like in Firefox.

The new version is a new localized build that was localized by TheMatrixIsAllOver. The locales included are French, Italian, Polish and Japanese.

You can install TB Properties here.

You can contribute more languages by signing up at babelzilla and translating this extension.
