For those who use the most recent beta of Thunderbird, you are in luck. I’ve just upgraded my test build of Thunderbird 3 to the latest pre, and I must say that ThunderBrowse works very well with it (much better than Thunderbird 3 alpha support).
It does work with media plugins, but please note, links in flash will not work because of how flash was made. We cannot override this (though if I saw flash plugin source code [is that even available?] on what they do for links, I could write a workaround). Also, ThunderBrowse doesn’t handle plugin security. It doesn’t enable or disable plugins between emails and websites. Maybe in the future.
Support isn’t completely perfect (yet).
As of writing, mail and message tabs do sync (which might be a small annoyance to some). The ThunderBrowse mail tab and the TB3 message tabs refresh when you change TB3 tabs. So you will get a reload in the ThunderBrowse mail tab when you switch message tabs. The url bar will not always reflect the current website shown when you switch message tabs. This only applies to the ThunderBrowse mail tab and is a normal behavior.
So please don’t whine and cry over the fact this is happening, it’s not that big of a deal and actually makes sense really. But if it starts to become a hassle, I’ll probably change it.
Also, javascript doesn’t work in TB3.0b1pre because the core returns false when js tries to run. I’ve talked to David Ascher about this, and we’ll probably go into deeper talks about it later. Rest assured, JS will work when TB3 comes out.
