This blog post isn’t so much about ThunderBrowse as it is about me. But first, let’s get a few things out of the way.

  1. We now have a license to Postbox. This will make it easier to keep track of Postbox updates and remain compatibility.
  2. Some new donations have come in. If you donated recently, thank you very much. I’m sorry I haven’t had the time to write back to all of you (as I normally do).
  3. Tabs build is a bit halted right now. I’m not sure if I want to release it as 3.2.7 because of the number of hacks involved. I’m thinking of getting it reviewed by someone at Mozilla and see what they think.
  4. I’ve yet to make the thank you page to the Summer of Funding donors. I’ll get to it. There is a reason behind this.

It kinda sounds like I’m slacking here, but I want to let you know that I’ve been sick for most of the month with the flu. Now I have “Super Flu” (or the Swine Flu). Let me tell you, this flu is a pain in the neck. Literally.

This is why ThunderBrowse hasn’t had any updates for awhile. Sorry. Hope that I get better soon.

ThunderBrowse Tutorial Vid #2

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

I made another tutorial video today. Apologies if it sounds bad, I’m sick and couldn’t record with my normal voice.

This video covers the startpage and how to change it. If you uninstalled ThunderBrowse and still see the ThunderBrowse start page, then you should be watching this video (because this was covered several years ago in the FAQ).

Anyways, here’s the video:

ThunderBrowse Tutorial Vid #1

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

Today I made a tutorial vid on how to use ThunderBrowse. Oddly, the screen brightness is extreme on the YT video but not on my rendered clip. I’m not sure what that is about.

This tutorial video shows you how to use ThunderBrowse fullscreen:

I’m not sure if I want to really continue the video tutorials but if people are finding them useful, I will probably put up 3 or 4 more tutorials.

Still Alive

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

I’m still alive in Seattle, home of the bizarrely hot weather (which makes me usually grumpy [apologies if you incurred my wrath recently]). I’ve been busy recently working on a ton of new projects and trying to get them done.

Several of you have been writing in to tell me that ThunderBrowse is yet again incompatible with the recently Thunderbird 3 nightly. Thank you for writing to me and I’ll try to get the issue resolved sometime next week in the form of a beta version hosted on AMO (AMO allows developers to host betas and I feel it will help people more if it is hosted there as well) and the blog (I have no deadlines next week).

In other news, my brother’s birthday is tomorrow, so I’m gonna be busy celebrating with him. Once again, thank you for staying with the project and being understanding of the long development times.

Summer of Funding has been a bit slow. Haven’t got any donations from AMO and nothing new has come in since the last update (which sucks because I would have liked adding more features).

SoF: Thunderbird 3 tabs

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

And here is the announcement for our when we hit our first milestone in Summer of Funding! This feature will be developed and a beta will release when the first $200 dollar milestone is hit.

The first milestone will implement TB3 Tabs!

TB3 Tabs

ThunderBrowse using TB3 Tabs Mockup

Many users have asked me for this feature, and I’ve long said that it’s a total maybe. I’m not super fond of TB3 tabs, but I’d be happy to add such a feature. I’ve done some research and it’s totally possible for ThunderBrowse to use the native Thunderbird 3 tabs. However, adding the feature in would require a lot of work.

Here’s what implementing Thunderbird 3 tabs would change:
